What Is a Composite Suspension Insulator?
A composite suspension insulator (also called a long-rod insulator or polymer insulator) is an overhead line insulator assembled from three precisely engineered components:
- Epoxy-impregnated fiberglass core rod — carries the full mechanical tensile load with exceptional strength-to-weight ratio.
- HTV silicone rubber weather-shed — provides creepage distance, hydrophobicity, and superior resistance to tracking and erosion.
- Forged galvanized-steel end fittings — secure connection to tower and conductor hardware, tested to IEC 61109 mechanical standards.
